Medicine starts before birth: Eduard Gratacós

Problems that occur during fetal brain development can follow us for our entire lives — but our current technology cannot diagnose neural conditions until after birth. At TEDxBarcelona, Eduard Gratacós discusses how he collaborated with engineers and mathematicians to develop predictive algorithms that read ultrasounds to find children who are at risk of abnormal neural development.

Each week, we choose four of our favorite talks, highlighting just a few of the enlightening speakers from the TEDx community, and its diverse constellation of ideas worth spreading. Browse all TEDxTalks here »

We have done it!
On September 24th, 2011 — 400 people in attendance, and 6000 people watching the stream.
We spoke about social innovation from every angle, and the ideas were really new.
We are so happy for that, for this mosaic full of hope and energy. And for a venue which is sensational, the center for contemporary creation Matadero Madrid.
The best was to have a TEDFellow in the room, 16 TEDx Organizers from  Spain and Latin America, and 8 translators from TED’s Open Translation Project.
Maybe tech part was not perfect, but the passion was all there — what a day!
